Things in the natural world are opposite but interrelated. There are two main forces, Yin and Yang (e.g. dark and bright) which are not in a state of equilibrium but in a dynamic setting. If yin is stronger, yang will become weaker, and vice versa. Such a never-ending process creates new harmonious order over time.
